My Coaching Story

Meet Charli!

Hi, I'm Charli, and firstly I'd like to thank you for visiting my page. If you're reading this the chances are you are the parent or carer of a teenager and looking to doing all you can to promote their happiness, success and confidence. As a mother of four myself, I completely understand the importance of getting to know about the person you are thinking about involving in your children's lives.

At this point in your journey you may be feeling worried about your teen - academically, emotionally, or both.

Perhaps you feel like your relationship with your child is strained or you're not as close as you used to be.

Maybe your son or daughter has closed up and doesn't want to let others in, and you're concerned about the stress levels he or she is under.

It could be that you simply want to do whatever you can to help support your teenager to acheive the best grades, confidence and growth mindset possible during these vital years.

For these reasons, and many more, parents contact me about my signature programme 'Reaching the Stars' where I support teenagers in going from feeling overwhelmed, anxious and confused to confident, enthusiastic and driven to succeed for their own merits.

So let me tell you a bit about myself. I live in rural Cornwall UK with my children and dogs. I am a certified Bodymind coach, fully qualified teacher with an MA in Education, and a Reiki Master. Education, learning styles and working with teenagers as whole people, not just statistics in a test driven society, are my passions.

I love art, the outdoors, traveling, and above all - spending time with my children. I coach with enthusiasm, humour, understanding and care. I am not a councellor and I do not delve into the past. I focus on what's going on now, what your child's hopes and dreams are, and give them the tools to harness those dreams without fear and thus realise their true potential.

When I was teaching in Secondary schools, I loved my career choice, I loved working with young people, and I loved knowing when I was making a positive difference to the lives of my students. However, I did not love the restrictive rules surrounding creativity - like not being able to just take my classes outside for literary inspiration; I did not love enforcing rules where 15 and 16 year olds had to ask me for permission to take their blazers off on a hot summer's day; and I did not love going to endless meetings where children were discussed as statistics and decisions were made to remove certain students from 'less important' subjects in order to attain higher league table ratings in Maths and English for the school.

I hoped that by climbing the managerial ladder I could promote positive difference in supporting mental health and all round wellbeing for each child, but I just found my hands were bound tighter. The pressure got too much for me, the stress became unmanageable, I was neglecting my family through long working hours and contant work focus. The universe showed me I had to change, my life had to change, and there was a new path for me to follow.

Now I still get to work with young people but in a different way. I can reach out in an individual capacity which is just impossible to do for every child when you teach maybe 200 students. I also offer support to the parents and advise how best they can support the process at home; thus providing an essential triangular support structure. This is why I intentionally only take on a small number of clients each month - in order to serve and support each family with maximum dedication.
